"The advice nearest to my heart and deepest in my convictions is that the
Union of the States be cherished and perpetuated."
...the home dedicated to the official unification of Ontario, as a state, self-governing territory or possession, with the United States of America. In particular this site pays attention to the many advantages that Ontario would gain from being a state within the U.S., and likewise the many advantages that the U.S. would gain from Ontario as a state.
The United States of America is much more than just a simple nation-state. It is a whole union of states that is, always has been and always will be, far greater than the sum of each of its individual parts. The motto of the United States of America, "E pluribus unum" which literally translated from Latin means "Out of many, one" accurately represents the solid foundation upon which the country is built. The strong unity of the United States of America is not from a shared culture, history, language, race or religion but rather from the fundamental principles of its expressly written social contract, the Constitution of the United States of America.
Originally composed of only 13 fledgling states along the eastern seaboard of North America, the United States of America is now home to some 281 million citizens in 50 states, spanning across the entire width of the continent, extending to its northwest corner and across 2,500 miles of the Pacific Ocean. Throughout its 226 year history, the United States of America has grown exponentially to become the world's lone superpower as well as the torchbearer for liberty and democracy, by accepting new states into the Union on the basis of complete equality with all other existing states.
Yet after some 40 years since the last state was officially admitted, is the United States of America really meant to just forever stop growing at a random line? Are the southern waterways of Ontario really meant to serve as static imaginary boundaries, where one nation supposedly ends and another supposedly begins? Are the differences between Ontario and the rest of the United States of America really greater than the all of the similarities that we have in common? Are we really destined to be one nation under two supposedly sovereign governments? And would Ontario really stand to lose anything or gain everything through full unification with the United States of America?
Find out just exactly how full unification with the United States of America would beneficially impact Ontario as well as the United States of America by exploring the various pages of this website.
